Sharon Ilene Towson

SAVANNAH – Sharon Ilene Towson, 66, passed on to Peace forever on Monday, November 10, 2008. She was in the tender care of Hospice Savannah.
The small town girl from Corry, PA graduated from Penn Sate University achieving a B.S. degree. She was among the earliest women to pass through Penn State's Smeal College of Business. She continued on to an M.B. A. from the University of Chicago School of Business.
Her career in Chicago as a board certified Enrolled Actuary included positions with Julius Baer & Co., Mercer Co., Montgomery Ward, and Reed Ramsy & Co. Her consulting clients were loyal and diverse; from hospitals to automobile dealers, banks to expert witness work for lawyers, and consulting services to union members of the Teamsters and Illinois Bell Telephone Workers.
Sharon retired to Savannah with her husband of fifteen years, Michael Towson, in 1999. She was active with various clubs and associations in The Landings community including the Jewish Women of The Landings.
In addition to her husband, Sharon is survived by her sister, Shirley Rabyne Milton of Northbrook. IL; stepson Matthew Towson Gretchen; stepdaughter, Shannon Towson of Highwood, IL; granddaughters, Grace E. Towson and Emily V. Towson, both of Gurnee. IL; brother-in-law, Thomas Towson of Lake Forrest, IL; sister-in-law, Rebecca Schlaff Nicholas of Grosse Point Farms, MI; nieces, Renee Zipperer Adam of Westin, FL and Amy Faldman Curtis of Southboro, MA; and cousins, Roselyn Friedman of Chicago, William Nichols Barbara of Corry, PA, and Rob Zalzneck Sara of Rocky Mount, NC.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery with Rabbi Mark Covitz officiating.
